Лучшие песни последних 20 лет по версии журнала Q

Популярный британский музыкальный журнал Q составил свой ежегодный рейтинг «Лучших песен последних 20 лет».

В первую пятёрку попали «Hey Ya!» OutKast, «Sweet Child O’ Mine» Guns N’ Roses, «Unfinished Symphony» Massive Attack и «One» U2.

«Как только в 1991 году появилась песня Nirvana «Smells Like Teen Spirit», то она сразу стала как бы водоразделом в рок-музыке, — говорит заместитель главного редактора Q Гарет Гранди. — Эта песня изменила весь ход течения современной музыки. Она, совместив в себе агрессию панк-рока и тяжёлые риффы Black Sabbath, вернула тяжёлый рок на музыкальную карту 90-х. Это было нечто по-настоящему новое, то, чего до Курта никто не предлагал. Депрессивные подростки всего мира сразу же влюбились в звуки Nirvana. Да и сейчас группа очень популярна, и не только среди подростков».

Наиболее «свежими» композициями, очутившимися в Топ-20, можно назвать хиты этого года «Crazy» Gnarls Barkley и «I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor» Arctic Monkeys, наиболее «древней» стал хит Guns N’ Roses 1987-го года «Sweet Child O’ Mine».

Есть у меня такая слабость — разглядывать рейтинги, но не для того, чтобы шуметь, спорить, драться и думать, почему так а не иначе, нет. Рейтинги позволяют находить новые имена и радоваться за старых знакомых.

Итак, ежедневное музыкальное издание PitchforkMedia представила на суд зрителей 200 лучших песен 1960-ах. Об издании: Pitchfork Media пишет о независимой музыке, инди-роке, электронике, хип-хопе, иногда о мэйнстриме. Имеет сильное влияние в мире независимой музыки. Для примера, артисты, чьи некоторые альбомы получили в рецензиях высший балл: Radiohead, James Brown, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello, Iggy & The Stooges, Pavement, Pink Floyd, Bruce Springsteen, Television, The Clash, The Fall, The Velvet Underground, The Who. Вроде бы все в тему, хотя Sonic Youth — NYC Ghosts & Flowers получил ноль из десятки. Кажется, люди — единомышленники.

Рейтинг составлялся не для альбомов, а для треков возможно потому, что в шестидесятых в ходу были синглы (EP), а не альбомы (LP). Выбирались не более 5 песен от одного артиста или группы. Конечно, за бортом остались сотни отличных треков — редакция не очень любит Doors и Jethro Tull Жирным выделено то, что вспоминается без лишних вопросов.
